It was a warm spring day, with the wind blowing every now and then and shaking the nuts out of the tree-

"Grandmaaa nobody cares about the setting!" A young boy in a sweater whined as he sank down in his seat
There was a chuckle across the room and you glanced over only to see your wife with a smile across her face and her nose in a book
"Sweetie I have to start at the beginning. Stories like this one don't just fall outa the sky!"
The child crossed his arms but looked back up at you, signaling for you to continue
"Now where was I? Oh yes. The wind was shaking the nuts out of the trees......

The setting shifts and we see a small woman wearing h green petticoat dress sitting on a bench, writing vigorously into a pale blue note book.
"Dear diary,
Issac gets back today. It's been months since I last saw her face. She hasn't written to me or responded to any of my letters so I fear she isn't coming back"
Her writing was interrupted by her best friend sitting down beside her, a goofy grin plastered on her face
"Payton!! Issac is coming back today! Why do you look so sad..?"
Payton closed her book and slouched resting her head onto her hand
"Oh Catalina I haven't heard from Issac in months! I'm not sure she's coming back for me."
"Oh Payton..."
Catalina wrapped her arms around her friend, enveloping her in a comforting hug.
Payton's Eyes started to tear up and she shoved her hand into her face.
"Payton look..the wagon for the town is gonna be here really soon. Don't you want to at lease see if she came back?"
Payton looked up and nodded her head, slowly wiping he tears off her face.

The two girls got off the bench and slowly made their way to the wagon stop.
The wagon pulled up moments later, carrying many people.
There were women, children, men but no sign of Issac.
Payton's hope slowly faded away, tears finding their way back to Payton's face
"Payton...I'm so sorry"
Catalina tried to giver her a hug but Payton brushed it off
"I..just I need to be alone right now."
Catalina nodded and turned away heading back  into the town

Payton stood there for the next several minutes-

"But I thought this was a happy story Grandma! Where's Grandma Issac on this story?" The little boy screamed and threw his hands into the air

"Just be patient dear I'm coming in soon"
Issac chuckled glancing up from her book
"Keep going honey, this is my favorite part"
You smile to yourself and continue with the story

Payton stood there for the next several minutes letting tears fall down her face, not caring enough to wipe them off
As she was sitting a shadow slowly engulfed her body, indicating that someone was standing behind her.
The stranger placed a hand on her shoulder and moved their hand around making little circles.
"Well what's a lovely little lady like you doing crying?"
Payton looked turned her body halfway glancing at the stranger with tears still stuck in her eyes
"Look sir I'm not interested please leave me alone"
The stranger took their hand off Payton's shoulder and walked around the her, so that they were standing in front of Payton's face
The stranger cupped her chin and lifted Payton's face up
"I've left you alone for too long baby girl. I need to be here now"
Payton jerked her eyes open and looked at the stranger

"......Issac?"
Issac smiled and kissed Payton's forehead
"I'm sorry I'm late princess. But I'm here now, and I'm not going anywhere."
Payton smiled and wiped the remaining tears off her face.
Issac smiled back at her and wrapped her up in a loving hug.
"You promise that you'll never leave me again Issac?"
"I promise princess. I promise"

The end

"I love that story Grandma! But where was Grandma Issac? And why was she so late?"

Issac looked at her grandchild with a smile and put the book down
"That's another story Johnathan. Another story for another time"
