"Over here!" A CCG officer shouted, pursuing a female ghoul and her daughter. The mother knew that only one of them would live through this and she wanted, desperately, for the survivor to be her daughter. The mother let out her large koukaku kagune and used it as a shell to protect her child and herself. She then knelt down to her child's height and handed her a mask shaped like a wolf's face and spoke "I want you to run away, while I hold them of, okay." Her child, young as she might be, she understood what her mother was doing. "Yes mama," the child sobbed, "but what will happen to you, I can't leave you. " The mother stared at her above-intelligent eight year-old daughter with a sad smile "The only thing that matters is your safety, my little wolf." The kagune shell was broken by one of the investigators as the mother slid a rucksack on her daughter's back and kissed her child's cheek. The last words the young ghoul heard her mother speak were "I love you" and then she shouted "Run!" While they both shed some tears, they knew what to do, the young ghoul ran as her mother fought the investigators to buy her time.

The child put the mask on as she ran, she held on tightly to the rucksack so it didn't slide of off her back. She ran - and ran - when she was about a mile away she heard an ear-shattering scream - her mother's. Even though she was far away she kept running; two miles, three miles, four miles until she was seven and a half miles away from the street her mother told her to run from. She found a small alley and walked into it, cautiously - she found some steps. She sat on the steps and slid her rucksack of off her back and upon unzipping it, she found two packs of human meat, a cloak that was way to long for her, an envelope with her name - Camilla - on it, a black and white wolf plushie and her favourite books by Takasuki Sen.

Camilla zipped up the rucksack and cried herself to sleep in that alley, to her surprise no one heard nor found her weeping in the alley. However, as much as she wanted to, she knew she couldn't stay there or she'll eventually be found. So she put on her rucksack and hid her mask, so no one could see it but she could grab it quickly if needed. She started walking the opposite direction she came from the day before and stuck to the shadows.

Weeks went by, she eventually became hungry and found a shady alley. She took out a packet of meat and ripped it in half, she put one half back in the packet so she didn't run out of meat quicker than she needed to. She devoured the piece of meat quickly so she didn't get caught and so she could move on quickly.

This cycle repeated itself, she only ate half a packet of meat every month or so but even Camilla knew she couldn't deny the inevitable - she would either have to kill or starve. She had finished her meat a month and a half ago and she became hungry with each passing day and she was becoming too weak to do anything. That night she found another alley to sleep in, like all of the other alleys she slept in, it was dark and cold. In the inky sky, the moon was shaped like a grin, and it seemed to be grinning at the pain and suffering the ghoul had been enduring. Too hungry, too weak and too cold, Camilla could barely move, she thought she was going to die of starvation but the unthinkable happened...

A ghoul wrapped in bandages hovered above the young ghoul but Camilla passed out before she or the other ghoul could say a word.

Eto's P.O.V

I've been watching the girl survive for months, by herself nonetheless, she is exactly what the Aogiri Tree need; strong willed, independent, sneaky, intelligent and skilled. Given more time and training, at her age, she could become a great and powerful ghoul and on the plus side, I've always wanted a daughter. Snapping myself out of my thoughts, I picked up the young ghoul as well as her belongings. She still had her mask on and I could never get a good look at her face when I was observing her and her skills.

I arrived at the Aogiri base a few minutes after I had picked her up, and just as I thought Tatara was there to greet me. When I rounded the corner, I saw Tatara walking my way, he was looking at the ghoul I was carrying in my arms. "Who is the kid?" Tatara asked in his usual tone. "She's the one I have been observing " I replied. "Younger than I expected" Tatara said looking at how young she really was. "She survived six months outside, on her own and she only ate two packets of meat during that time." I said, amazement lacing my voice. "She has survived longer then most, when put in a situation like this." Tatara said, he was probably amazed but he doesn't show any emotions so again he said it in his usual tone.

We ended the conversation there, I had a spare room next to my room so I decided to put her there and I grabbed a spare pack of meat to give her. She was on top of the bed, as I opened up the pack of meat ready for her to eat, she was moving more though. I pulled out a chair out to sit by her bed.

She woke up all at once, startled, and I don't blame her.

Camilla's P.O.V

I woke up to an unfamiliar bed and a face I recognised - the ghoul wrapped in bandages - she looked like an Egyptian Mummy. I was perplexed "Who are you and why did you bring me here?" I asked the ghoul. "I saw you when you passed out" she answered in a sickly sweet voice. "My name is Eto. What's yours?" I didn't know if I could trust her but she's the only shot I have at surviving. "My name is Camilla Yatmoona." I answered with no emotion. "You are very bold and mature considering how old you are." Eto said, admiring that quality about you. "What were you doing in that alley?" Eto asked gently. "I've been surviving on my own for six months, I was hungry and I had eaten the meat I had on me." I answered not sure whether trusting her was a good idea. "Well, you are quite a talented young ghoul, do you mind taking your mask of?" I knew she was sweet talking but I obliged. I took of my mask, it was still a little to big for me but it is meant for an adult. Eto studied my long raven black hair, my pale skin, my pink lips and my piercing dark purple eyes, but the most peculiar thing about me was that I had a white streak in my hair.

"Such a beautiful face" Eto commented. "Thank you" I said as I put my mask back on my face. "I bet you are a very talented ghoul but have you ever used your kagune?" she asked sweetly. "I have never used my kagune but I have seen it." She looked at me and could instantly tell I was tired. "Well I'll leave you to rest now. I'll check on you every so often." Eto said with genuine reassurance. I nodded and then she turned away and walked out, shutting the door behind her. Silence, sweet silence loomed over the room as Camilla fell asleep.
