Once Upon a Time

Everyone tells us to ignore the pain

To never show emotion

Because we're men and men don't cry

But that night when you

Walked out of my life for good

Without even looking back after

All that we were?

All that we had been?

You walked right through me

And sucked my soul out of my chest

As you left, leaving

Me a hollow and empty shell of what

I once was

And as these cyclones swim in my

Eyes and the cold crystals devoid of warmth fall

Down rosy flesh and form rivulets

Of pain that etch their way along my skin I

Wonder

How could you wake up this morning and

Decide that I wasn't important to you anymore?

How could you leave me like this?

With that memory of how you used to love me
