Watch for it,

That sly glimmer of past that creeps through

So sweetly it caresses,

Buried once again.

Eternally missed,

A cage of gilded iron and longing.

A fool once thought-

But it’s cold to the touch,

Numb with frost.

That smile that says more

But never seen

A throne etched behind the crown.

Can they mark the blind man's mask?

Can he see through his own trick?

When that wall breaks,

There must be something left

Something to keep the tide at bay-

For it sustains like no other,

That one control that is left

The enticing ire so warm to the touch.

What does he find but the hollow?

It's better to see yourself through

Remember what that smile was once worth.

It's all just a game anyways

And somewhere around there'll be better days
