Adam (AS) died after teaching his children to worship Allah Ta'aala alone and not make partners with him. He told them his story with Iblis and told them that he was their enemy.
Days and years quickly passed. Then all the children of Adam (AS) forgot what their father told them, except for a few of them.
There was in all ages a man whom the people loved because he guided them to Allah Ta'aala. When the pious man died, they would make a statue of him, so that they could remember him.
Wadd, Suwa', Yaguth, Ya'uq and Nasra were five of these pious men. When they died the people made their statues. Many years had passed since Adam (AS) died, ten centuries or a thousand years.
The people forgot Adam (AS) advice and obeyed Iblis. They did not believe in Allah Ta'aala and worship Him. Iblis had found a chance to miguide the children of the man he hated, Adam (AS).
The statues of the five men, were now buried under the sand. WHAT was Iblis going to do?
He came in the form of a human and said to the people, "Whom do you worship?"
"We do not worship anyone," they replied.
He said, "Shall I show you the gods which your forefathers used to worship?"
"Yes," they said.
He then showed them the place of the 5 statues and said to them, "These are the gods of your forefathers - Wadd, Suwa', Yaguth, Ya'uq and Nasr."
The people believed what he said and worshipped these idols. They forgot that they could not hear or speak. They were just stones that they had made with their own hands.
