Once upon a time. A kid had an imaginary friend. They play games. One day their parents ask who are they talking to. The kid said, "I'm talking to my friend." The parents got scared. So they took their child to a special place where there child could get better.
Now the child is 18 years old. Their locked away in an asylum still talking to their friend. The child's friend isn't so imaginary. The kid haves a gift where they can see things that aren't really there.
The so called 'imaginary friend' is a being that comes and make friends with kids who feel lonely. Usually if the kid is happy after they become friends, they leave them, but they will still have their memories of them. When they get older, they forget their friend.
It's rare if the being stays with them. The being feels like it's apart of their family. So the being stays with them, and turn the kid into one of them. They can never die, there always happy, and it's their job to make kids happy.
