Jacob POV

The Cullens had finally finished showing us how the newborns fighting methods work. Sure, they were good, and even slightly intimidating, I still wasn't that impressed. I'm pretty sure that I could still take out those bloody newborn leeches with ease.

"...Maybe you should come down here and sniff us so that you can recognise our scents to avoid hurting us in the battle?"the doctor suggested.

'Should we really do something like that?'Leah asked, suspicion laced thickly in her voice.

'Look, I don't trust the leeches just as much as you do, Leah, but we're working TOGETHER right now...'Sam said, his own distrust in his voice.

'What do ya say, huh Jake?'Quil asked, turning his huge chocolatey brown Wolf head towards me.

I did a slight double take. 'And why do I have to decide?'

'Coz Quil asked, doofus,'Leah said, shaking her grey wolf head. I was pretty sure that she would be rolling her eyes right now if she were in her Human form.

'Shaddup for once, Leah—'I growled. The grey wolf just snorted. '—Jeez. Anyway. Let the leeches sniff us. We could always bite their heads off if they do something stupid.'

'Fine,'Sam agrees. He then turned to Bella's parasite and said : 'tell them that we're coming now.'

The bloodsucker nodded and spoke in a monotone voice. "Yes, we agree. We are coming down to smell you. Arrange yourselves into a line..."

The Cullens do as the bronze haired tells them to, with the big bear one, the soldier one and finally the one who I'd love to decapitate standing at the end.

We slide down the slope as one and walk in a straight line, with Paul, Embry and I at the back. As soon as I and the other two reach the last three leeches, we stop, frozen in our tracks as we smell each smelt a sweet scent that, surprisingly, didn't hurt our noses like the others.

All of a sudden, as I looked down at the lee— leee—!

Why can't I call him a leech anymore?! Fine, Edward's eyes, all the metaphorical strings that tied me to the Earth were cut and replaced by Edward tying me here.

I no longer wanted to kill him. I wanted to protect, love and cherish him, make him feel so happy that he'd never be sad again.

I was willing to be anything for him. A brother, a best friend, someone to talk to, even a lover if I pushed it.

It was actually then that I realized that I, Jacob Ephraim Black, a Werewolf, imprinted on Edward Cullen, a Vampire who is supposed to be my mortal enemy.

Embry POV

I stared at the blond haired Vampire before me, now completely and utterly devoted to him.

Jasper Hale. Such a great name. His golden eyes widened in confusion as I never stopped staring at him. I knew what was happening to me, but I just didn't understand how it was actually happening to me.

Aren't Werewolves and Vampires supposed to hate each other or something? And how can you continue a line with a Vampire? A person who's dead. And a male.

But at this point, those confusing problems were forgotten as I stared at my Imprint. He was my everything now, I would make sure that he never wanted for anything.

All of a sudden, the blond caught me off guard and gave me a very gentle hug, as if afraid of breaking me.

I looked to both sides of me and saw that Paul and Jake were in the same predicament as me.
