Newt's POV:
My alarm clock blares in my ears. 7:00 am. It's time to get ready for hell, Or school, also known as Glade High. I'm a sophomore. I get myself up and going and head down to the kitchen to get some tea ready. My sister, Sonya, Is already down there making herself some tea. "Good morning", She says. "Mornin'", I say, still groggy and sleepy, "Did you sleep well?", She asks, curiously, "I slept fine", I lie. "That's good!", She exclaims a little TOO joyful for it to be 7:00 in the morning. "Mhm", I mumble. The truth is, I don't sleep that well. I've been so anxious and sad lately. I've been taking my depression medication but nothing seems to help anymore. I've gone to therapists, psychiatrists, Pretty much anything you can name, chances are I've been to it. I do have my two best friends that help get me through my tough times, Their names are Minho Park and Thomas Greene. I've known them for as long as I can remember. They can be a handful, but I love them. All three of us have been on the track team at Glade High since Freshman year. We have our morning runs every day before
school. With the exception of Monday's, which happens to be today, We usually run at 6:00 am and start heading to school at around 8:30 am. School begins at 8:55 am. I drag myself up the stairs and brush my teeth and get my clothes on. I throw on a plain gray t-shirt and black jeans and my sneakers. I check my phone, I have a text from the group chat that Thomas created because "we need a good form of communication". I see a text from Thomas:
Tommy: Yo yo yo, let's go get breakfast.
Min: You shank, why'd you wake me up at six shucking thirty just to say "LeTs gO gEt BrEaKfAsT"
Tommy: ...I'll pay
Min: Give me 10 minutes. The diner?
Tommy: Yup
Min: Good that. See you shanks then.
I tuck my phone in my pocket and grab my books and book bag and head out of the door, saying bye to Sonya first of course.
