QUITE FRANKLY, Brooke Swan could have easily ignored her mother's yearning for her stepfather. After all, she's never been quite as selfless as her older sister. At the ripe age of nine, clutching her candies to her chest per example in a tight fisted refusal to share. With age, she matured of course and once prompted to pluck the rosy glasses from the bridge of her freckled nose, Brooke too could see her mother's longing for her Husband and so she packed her life in boxes and moved to dreary, rainy, overcast Forks, Washington to join their father.
Last time that Brooke visited (only a mere handful of months prior with Charlie's rotation for Christmas being that of the December before), she met the same old faces. The sort of folks that have called Forks home for generations like the Swan's themselves but their faces were so strikingly memorable that Brooke is damn certain she never bumped into a single Cullen before. Usually, it had always been Bella to attract danger with two-left feet and an aversion to safety but with the flutter of butterflies in her belly and twist of her chest, Brooke can't deny that she may not be the only one to be testing the fates, tempting the day they would die.
