avery walsh is one of the best investigative journalists in virginia.

she's known for getting details no one else has access to. sources no other journalists had.

she was very good at solving low profile cases, becoming a personal favorite to many detectives in quantico.

she was originally avery banks, daughter of the director of the fbi. she'd changed it for unbiasedness in her field. sometimes, when she dived into new article research, she'd catch onto leads that local police hadn't caught onto yet.

she catches onto a lead of a murderer of a prostitute, not finding enough evidence to go to local police. she continues to follow her suspect, falling deeper and deeper into the hole of murder.

when her case is hijacked by the fbi, particularly, doctor spencer reid, she's livid.

but, all in all, she helps.

and they solve the case. 

spencer and avery connected on a level that's slightly different from friendship. a level that was unspoken. 

they decide to explore this sexual connection.
