its a fine saturday night. well... 2:07am to be specific. you were eating cereal--- why? it doesn't matter. you simply had craved it.
the honey nut cheerios of your childhood had seemed good to you right about now. why? didn't matter. it sounded appealing. so you'd bought some only to find it'd been mediocre. you looked at the cereal box. "buzz the bee," you smirked, thinking to yourself about how you'd always liked the mascot. so kind, cute, and clever.
as you put the cereal away, you rinsed your bowl out, some remaining milk dripping into the sink. the taste of honey lingered in your mouth. you licked your lips, wiping them with the back of your hand. you took a towel and dried your hands. looking around, you sighed. you were a broke college student-- even the box of cheerios had been a splurge. you looked at your reflection in one of the puddles of water in a plate you hadn't put in the dishwasher. it was dirty water, and the smell was putrid. you looked over to the pantry. you hadn't turned off the light in it.
smiling and shaking your head despite it all, you went over and turned off the light, closing the door. you opened the fridge. it was so empty. the only thing in there was a few half empty bottles of water and a ketchup bottle a third full. you'd used so much as of late. not on anything, either. you'd simply eaten ketchup straight from the bottle as a part of a dare.
it'd been for a girl you like. you'd considered it worth it, especially when you got off with ten dollars for doing it.
it hadn't worked in the end. sara decided taking the challenge was horrific in the first place, even in the name of your undying love for her. she hadn't texted you since. she'd blocked your number, even.
as you walked over to your bed, you got under the cold, thin sheets, sighing. you looked at your phone. it somehow had become 2:32am. had you really taken that long in the kitchen? you realized you'd gotten lost in your thoughts again. like always, you thought to yourself. the dull dark of the outside made it impossible to see anything. you were glad to have white, scratchy curtains drawn over them. who knew what would have come through the black dark?
when you couldn't sleep, you went back to the kitchen. you stood by the table, sighing. your breath hitched. your face turned scarlet.
hands on your shoulders. a body pressed up to your backside.
the buzzing of wings. the soft, fuzzy feeling you'd expect him to have.
"...buzz?" you whisper. his wings slow to a stop.
his warm breath is on your neck.
he puts his mouth beside your ear as he speaks. "yes. it's me, y/n. you've always eaten my cereal. it's flattering when you do so... watching you eat. hungrily. but today, you were upset. the first time i've seen you in years. do you know how happy i was to see you, and then-- you take me to your home, and it's so dark? depressing?"
your breath is uneven now. one of his arms was pressed against your stomach, making you closer to him. "i... i'm s... so--"
he slams his hand over you mouth.
"don't say sorry. it's fine. it's fine..."
it is quiet for a few minutes. he is simply holding you. your blush is dying down. "buzz," you finally say, "it's been years since you've visited me. what happened? did i make you upset last time? i was only fourteen. you were fifteen. how could i have known?"
he stayed silent, then turned you around. "it's okay, y/n. it's okay. that's past us. what i do know is that i've missed you. how you smell. look. i've been wishing you'd have a bowl of cheerios for so many years... and now. you're having one. a bowl of cheerios. honey nut."
its silent again. buzz's expression then turns sultry. you gasp. "buzz, no! i.. i have school in the morning. a quiz to study for, a--"
"and you chose to eat cheerios," he abruptly cut you off. you felt shame plaster across your face. you had. you'd eaten honey nut cheerios. you'd directly gone out to the walmart near 1:31am, and came back around 2:00am. then you'd had your bowl at 2:07. red spread across your cheeks as buzz's wings started buzzing.
he kissed you. he pulled back.
you were in shock. you didn't know what to say.
and then you knew everything was alright. buzz was here. you were fine. you would be fine. nothing was wrong. now, now... you were fine. everything was well.
you took off your necklace, bracelets, rings, earrings, and you set them on the table. they were gifts from your mother. you didn't want your dead mother to see what you were about to do. it would be shameful. you looked at the box of honey nut cheerios in the pantry. they'd fallen down, cheerios spattered across the floor. when had that happened? you didn't know.
buzz took you by the hand, leading you to your room. "i love you, honey," he whispered in your ear as you got under the sheets. "you'll always bee mine."
you had a feeling they wouldn't be cold that night.
a/n no i wont be apologizing publically
