With a large smile on your face,

You announced your engagement.

In front of me,

In front of our friends,

Everyone was so happy.

Well, almost everyone.

I forced a grin across my lips,

But fought back tears in my eyes.

This wasn't right,

You weren't supposed to be love her,

You were supposed to be with me.

Would I be your best man?

Absolutely.

I'd move mountains if you asked me to.

Would I be happy for you?

Only on the outside.

These pent up emotions are getting unbearable,

I feel as though my heart is a knife,

Stabbing me from the inside every time it secretly beats for you,

I have loved you for years,

But never could tell you out of fear of facing rejection.

I knew I should've been braver.

But it looks like I'm too late now.

Before you walk down that aisle,

And before you say your I Do's,

Please wake me up from this nightmare,

Don't leave me alone,

Please don't kiss the bride.
