The Blackout burnt out Earth's circuit board cities six years ago in 1995, leaving many rural communities to rebuild and metropolitan areas becoming shells of their former glory.

Adele makes the yearly trip through the barren Californian landscape post-Blackout to visit her grandmother's grave in time for her death's anniversary. Her best friend, Olivia, tags along to escape their sleepy town in these rote times. Even for a little while.

Welcome and thank you for clicking on The Sun Is Out!

This is just a fun non-commital book I wrote as an ode to studio ghibli + adding to the post-apocalyptic genre with some optimism and that good queer romance. The main aspect of this book is the coming-of-age atmosphere rather than plot.

You can definitely leave comments, any feedback is completely appreciated!
