As I looked into her pain stricken eyes,
I knew she knew,
What was happening in her body.
Before the doctor said a word,
The tears ran down our faces,
As we pondered what was to come.
She knew I knew,
That there was no words to comfort her,
That all I could promise was wasted on her.
We both faced the truth and saw that there was no going back.
The drip, drip, drip, of blood hitting the floor.
She tried to make me smile,
Cracking bad jokes about meaningless stuff,
Compared to this to now.
The ultrasound showed us,
The baby was moving,
The heart beat elevated.
One last glimpse,
One last photo,
One last breath.
Goodbye to my loved one,
