The summer breeze that blew the leaf,
That cradled him on wings of love
Blew ever onward, never brief,
Caught the grey eyed mourning dove

Of longing and of misery,
She sang into the air
Voice echoing so bitterly,
Under the icy stare,

Of winter as he glided,
On wings of snow and ice
He stepped onto the gameboard,
He dared to roll the dice

Now we all know that when you play,
You have a chance to win
Unless you play with love my dear,
Then you'd best try again
