It was time to let go, she knew it. I pulled away from her but she stopped me. My feet made small imprints on the ground beneath them. Small drops of sweat formed on her forehead as she reached for my hand. While the leaves changed, my life felt stuck more than ever. With her bag clutched against her body, she moved towards me. The sun lit up the dead leaves on the ground beneath us. I tried to say something but I shut my mouth as quickly as i opened it. 'When you get out of here, Just don't go somewhere where they or I'd see you' She finally spoke. 'I know which place you're thinking of. But it just isn't good. It's vulnerable and you know it.'' She had always been two feet ahead of me, and said things that I wouldn't even think of. She wanted to speak more but the time was drifting away from us. My voice cracked but i managed to say 'I thought this would be the last time.'  'We can't get away this easy, Rio' She explained, but my eyes darted away from her. She touched my face and said, 'sometimes, it hurts so much to look at you'. We both closed our eyes and listened to the voices and sounds but it was silence. Pure silence. I could her sweat breath against my face and her pounding heart because she was about to let me go. I could picture her in all her gorgeous colours. I opened my eyes to see that she has disappeared. At first glance, It seemed like nothing had changed but it did. Everything had changed. My eyes were tired from crying. I did not try to look for her because I knew she wouldn't come back. She never will. My eyes were fixed on the place where her ghost has disintegrated. I looked for something she left but It was just her ghost that I listened to. For the last time. My memory was foggy. Years ago, I had killed her. I killed her because she told me to. One of us had to suffer from one's death so it had to be me. I wouldn't have wanted her to suffer. Then here i was still crazy about her. It had hurt to believe that I'd had seen her face for the last time. Her face lit up the darkness in that cave and the dark wasn't scary anymore for being in it for the last 20 years of my life
