"RECLUSE OR RECKLESS?"

The headline was in big, bold letters as if to exaggerate the rest of the highly critical online article. And unsurprisingly, the story had been published by J. Jonah Jameson himself. That man was nothing but a miserable little imp who manifests his sadistic tendencies because his only real accomplishment was being put on top of Forbes' list of worst reporters.

Michelle Jones scowled more as she continued to scroll down the site, reading the nasty comments made by Jonah about her last rescue. A new villain had been terrorizing Queens again and Michelle—in her alter ego form—did her best to stop the madman. Unfortunately, this menace was a lot harder to defeat and caused a lot of property damage. Damage that Jonah pinned the blame on her rather than the actual evil doer.

But what could she really expect from the low life reporter? All he ever did was ridicule her, and all she ever did was prove him wrong. An endless game of cat and mouse between two public figures.

Her screen then displayed the Spider alarm enabled, signaling danger nearby. At that Michelle blocked all of the news' negativity from her mind and jumped down the rooftop of the building she was on. See, most people would be scared to jump down an eight story building as it'd lead to their inevitable death, but not Michelle. When she jumped, she shot a string of web and swung towards the danger—exhilarated every time she did.

Michelle Jones had too many things to balance, including two identities. To most people she was just Michelle, the cool loner that kept others at arms length. But in her super persona, she was known as Recluse The Spider. Her spider based powers had given her the pseudonym—and maybe her personality.

Though it could've also been her suit. She was clad in skintight spandex and nanotech; the suit itself being black fading to a few different shades of brown on the upper areas with intricate designs of what seemed to be a spider web all around. Except the knee high boots that had a washed out white rim. As well as the long gloves that didn't fully connect to the rest of the suit, leaving her shoulders and half of the upper arms bare.

Her mask did well to conceal most of her face, yet her chin and mouth left free so she could taunt her enemies with a victorious smile and a plenty supply of sarcastic quips. Her hair left visible as the medium length was tied up in a neat ponytail with two loose strands in the front.

And the suit all tied together by a short black leather bomber that had a large brown recluse spider insignia on the back, as well as a utility belt that carried a transforming metal bow staff—which was also a glider when the webbed wings were out. (A/N: Did my months of shamefully binge watching ATLA over and over again, inspire this? Yes, indeed)

Michelle continued to swing from building to building, zipping past different neighborhoods, and even skidding down utility poles or stair railings. She loved the thrill of it all, while still speeding to save the day.

Some might wonder how exactly she got her powers. Well, about three years ago, Michelle and her sister went to tour her father's work place: Horizon Labs. Michelle had looked forward to it as she planned to apply for an internship maybe later on. And everything was going well so far...

Until an accident, causing fire to erupt in the building. Michelle followed the other escapees out, making sure her little sister was safe first, but once they had gotten out from the building there was no sign of her father anywhere. So Michelle being reckless and daring, ran back in the burning structure despite the protests of others and searched for her dad. She did her best to avoid the fire, and made it all the way to the lab she learned her dad was working at.
