Zera was Mavis' best friend
Zera originally died when her guild was destroyed.
Mavis then unknowingly created Zera as an illusion.
After 7 years later Yuri,Warrod,&Precht(three treasure hunters)came to Tenrou Island
Mavis & Yuri had a game of wits leading to Zera and Mavis getting of the island.
Later on Yuri told Mavis that Zera was an illusion.
That's when Zera disappears for good.
