Catching The Wire

After a long and uneventful fleet defense patrol I was returning to the USS Nimitz to refuel, catch a break, get my patrol route changed, or maybe even get a strike mission. But in the meantime I was finishing up my approach to the runway. I was about five miles out and heading towards the landing area of the carrier's flight deck. Descending through 5,000 feet I caught sight of the ship's stern and reduced my power and then partially extended my flaps. As I drew closer to the carrier I checked the glides cope guide on the flight deck to see if I will make it to the ship. Right after I continued reducing speed. When I was about 1,000 feet from the carrier I deployed my air brakes to slow down to a speed of 150 knots to land. Then the wheels of my super hornet hit the carrier deck along with my tail-hook catching the third wire. It was a perfect landing. After the wire was disconnected and the tail-hook was retracted I taxied my plane out of the way and let the flight deck workers take over after I opened the canopy and got out.
