Prologue
“Daddy!” Anabelle yelled as she ran over to Reece. He let go of his suitcase and picked her up. He kissed her just before his eyes connected with mine. “Doesn’t mummy look beautiful?” Reece asked Anabelle as I walked towards them both. She nodded as he put her down. “I missed you,” Reece said, placing his hand on the small of my back before he kissed me.
“Don’t give Reece all the lovin’,” I heard Jake say. I turned to look at him and smiled. “Come on,” he said, “Bring it in.” I gave Jake a hug just as the other lads joined us. Most of them fussed over Anabelle which she loved. My little angel loved being the centre of attention.
“She looks like you,” James told me. I turned to look at him and smiled. “Yeah, I guess,” I replied. I still got butterflies every time I saw him. “Come here,” I said as I gave him hug. He hugged me back even tighter.
Anabelle was almost three years old. Reece and I lived in a flat in the north of London and the rest of the lads now had their own places too. Anabelle was daddy’s girl. Even though Reece worked a lot, he spoilt her so much. And the rest of the lads adored her. James kept his distance from Anabelle where he could. But being the excitable little girl she was James couldn’t avoid her often.
I think Anabelle was a reminder of what happened a few years ago. I had been so in love with James when Anabelle was born, I still was. Of course I still had feelings for him. He was the first guy I ever loved. Some nights when Reece was away I’d lie in bed and cry. I wanted to be with James so badly but I had to do what was best for Anabelle, even if that meant living a lie.
