Chapter 24: Careless

Desmond's POV

"This man might be taller, and he's a pro when it comes to computers, voice mails, and cameras. He knows the ins and outs here in Manila, that's why we don't see any trace at all that makes him hard to catch," Miguel said.

We are now in the meeting room and planning what we will do to stop the killer here in Manila.

"These are the victims. There are eleven deaths, and they are all tortured first before being killed. They are all amputated to prevent traces, and they are all chained to the neck."

Miguel pointed out some pictures where the victims had these marks on their necks. That chain indeed says that it was used for women who are being tortured by the killer. I can see the chain marks on their necks, and I can imagine how brutal the killer is.

Kailangan kong makinig dahil ayokong umabot sa punto na pati pamilya ko ay madadamay dahil sa masamang tao na 'yun.

He knows that I'm getting married, and probably he's sneaking on me. Hindi siya nag-iiwan ng bakas kaya mahirap siyang hulihin.

My forehead creased when Miguel mentioned the paraquat dichloride. What is the meaning of that?

As I know, paraquat dichloride is an herbicide. The use of that herbicide is to control weeds and farm fields, gardens, parks, and lawns, but it is often used on farms.

"You mean, maaaring mag-sasaka ang gumagawa nito?" I asked with a matter-of-fact tone. Miguel nodded at me in response, causing me to clench my jaw.

"Puwedeng magsasaka o may ari ng isang farm," tugon niya.

Masusi naming pinag-uusapan kung sino ang posibleng killer. Kailangan na naming magmadali dahil pati ako ay pinagbabantaan niya na.

"The killer put it on Cristina's body, and even a small taste of it can kill a person. She will first feel lung scarring and failure of multiple organs before she dies," Miguel explained.

Ang ibig niyang sabihin ay pinilit ng killer na ipainom 'yon o akala ni Cristina ay tubig ito at pagkatapos nitong mamatay ay doon na sinunog ng killer ang katawan niya.

I saw the dates of their deaths, which made my brows knitted. Am I the only one who thinks that there's something wrong with the dates of their deaths?
