chapter six.

A groan escaped me as I sat in Motor by myself, flipping through a magazine. The boys went out for food, and I would have went with them, but the night of Vincent's party, I tripped on our way out of 7-Eleven and landed pretty bad on my ankle, dropping my slushee. Seeing as I was the only one that was sober and old enough drive, but at the moment I couldn't, we had to call for an ambulance.

I looked down at my boot, grimacing at it before I heard the bell to the door ring as it swung open. I looked up to see Vincent enter, making me roll my eyes, "Why are you here, Vincent?"

He looked around the shop, "Thought your friends would be here. Chose to give them a few days to collect up enough money for my mother's vase."

"They aren't here," I simply told him, "You can get it another time."

"Is that why you're here by yourself?" He asked, now right across from me, meeting my eyes.

"Can't go anywhere if I tried," I motioned to my foot and he leaned over the counter to see my boot.

"Shit," He cursed, "How bad it is?"

"Just a small fracture," I sighed, "I should be healed up and skateboarding again soon." He slowly nodded before looking around the shop again, causing me to furrow my brows, "Are you here for something else?"

He then met my eyes and gave a soft smile, "Yeah, I'm also here for you." I couldn't help but laugh, causing him to furrow his brows, "What?"

"You think I'm going to swoon over you or just leap in your arms because you said that?" I chuckled.

"No, but I was expecting at least a small smile in return," He admitted, "Especially after us being in my room.."

"Well, that was before you got into an argument with my friends." I sighed, "I could tell that you still had pent up anger for Fuckshit and so, whatever happened in your room meant nothing."

"You're kidding me," He scoffed lightly, "Fuckshit fucking punched me, all I did was-"

"You taunted him," I interrupted, going back to skimming through the magazine, "You were bullying him in front of everyone. I don't like bullies."

"Look, I was just pissed about my mom's vase because I wasn't supposed to have that many people over," He told me, still leaning on the counter.

I then looked up from my magazine, "Okay, so explain what a Fuckshit was saying he overheard from your friends." I crossed my arms over my chest, "And don't say he's lying because he wouldn't lie to me."

He then sighed and ran a hand through his hair, "Okay, so I did invite them for my own entertainment."

"And me too?" I asked, "Was I entertainment for you as well?"

"No," He answered sternly, "I wouldn't do that to you."

"I don't know if I can just take your word for it," I told him, "It's just a little weird how you wanted to speak to again."

"How can I prove it to you?" He asked, but I shrugged before I went to my magazine again, though he snatched it and held it in his grasp. I looked up at him, my unamused expression meeting his smile, "Let me take you out on a date."

An involuntary laugh escaped me, "You got to be kidding me."

"No, I'm not joking, I'm serious." He assured me, rolling up my magazine in his hands, "Just you and I, we could go get something to eat one day and-"

"Vinnie, no," I shut down, "It's not going to happen."

"Why, because of your friends?" He asked, "Who cares about what they would think?"

"I care," I responded, "They don't like you very much and I know I shouldn't be concerned about what they think, but I just don't think I should go out with you." He looked down, but my head turned to the door when it swung open and the boys came back with our food.

They were laughing, but as soon as they got inside and saw Vincent, it got quiet until Ruben scoffed, "What the fuck is he doing here?"

Vincent stood up and faced the boys, who were all holding the same facial expression as if they were one person. He let out a light sigh, "I just came here to tell you not to worry about paying for the vase."

I furrowed my brows as I thought, he came here to have them pay for it. Ray slowly nodded his head, "Thanks, we appreciate it."

Vincent nodded back before turning to Fuckshit, meeting his eyes, "And Fuckshit, I'm sorry. Our feud is based off stupidity and it's not worth it, don't you think?"

"Man, it's whatever," Fuckshit simply responded and walked out back to go skate.

Vinnie then turned back to me, placing my magazine down before meeting my eyes, "Just think about what I said, okay?"

I only hummed before he smiled lightly and walked past the boys to leave the shop. Though once he did, I got looks and weird faces aimed my way. I furrowed my brows, "What?"

"What is he asking you to think about?" Ruben wondered and I rolled my eyes.

"Mind your damn business," I remarked and he flipped me off before him and Fourth Grade joined Fuckshit out back. Ray was the only one looking at me skeptically, "Yes, Raymond?"

"You don't really like that guy, right?" He asked me and I raised a brow.

"Why, do you like me or something?" I asked jokingly, but when he didn't respond, I let out a brief laugh, "Don't worry, Raymond. I don't like him."

Ray then nodded, coming over to me with a bag of food, "Here," He mumbled and opened up the bags to pull out two burgers and fries before we ate in odd silence. I couldn't help but think about Ray's silence, yet I convinced myself that he was always like that.

Boys are just weird.
