It was a snowy, cold, and dark day in the city of New York. The crescent moon shimmered in the night sky. Artemis walked by the lake in Central Park alone. She saw a woman pushing her baby stroller.

Artemis had often reflected on her status as a maiden goddess. She hated men, but couldn't deny the fact that she wanted a child. Someone to care for. Her thoughts were interrupted by a loud scream behind her.

A little boy fell onto the snow crying for help. Artemis saw a pack of hellhounds arrive and ready to attack the boy. Regardless of what she thought about males, a little boy didn't deserve to die. She snapped her fingers they disappeared into silver dust as she hurried to the boy's side.

The boy shuddered and quickly backed away from her.

"I will not hurt you. What is your name, little one?" She softly asked.

The boy whimpered and managed to choke out his name.

"P-Perseus. Perseus Jackson." He answered.

Artemis had a grim expression on her face. To her disappointment, Perseus was most likely a half-blood. But what was he doing here alone? She put her hand on his head and searched his memories.

Born a son of Poseidon. His mother married an abusive man. A day ago, he murdered her in front of Percy. Now, he was trying to survive all alone.

"Miss, why are you crying?"

Artemis was taken aback by his remark and noticed that she had tears flowing down her cheeks. She turned to the side and quickly wiped them away.

"Perseus... do you have anywhere else to go?" She asked.

Percy stared blankly and his eyes started to water.

"I... I don't have anyone," he said weakly.

Artemis was already set on her decision, but it was going to be Percy's choice.

"Perseus... I would like to adopt you as my... son."

Percy's eyes widened at what she said as she away. She was afraid of her offer being rejected but then felt a warm embrace. Percy was hugging her tightly!

"T-thank you! I thought no one wanted me!" he exclaimed as Artemis wrapped her arms around him.

He let go of her and now, Artemis could see his facial features clearly. Beautiful sea-green eyes and messy black hair. She put her hand on his shoulder.

"I, Artemis, Goddess of the Hunt, Archery, Wilderness, and the Moon, adopt Perseus Jackson as my son."

A silver arrow flashed above Percy who was looking at it curiously. His eyes were still sea green, but now, there was a silver ring around it. His black hair shined silver in the moonlight.

"Now come, we need to find you a home," said Artemis as she picked Percy up.

Writer Notes

Let me know what you guys think about the story as it continues. I'm a new writer, but I love reading and writing Percy Jackson stories. This will be my first piece and it's going to start pretty much at the beginning of The Titan's Curse. The first parts of the story will follow the same storyline, but there will be key changes. A lot of the focus will be on Percy (obviously) and Zoe, so don't expect too much from the other characters.

All credit goes to the Altered Destinies Series by Anaklusmos14. His work captivated me and inspired my own reading. Unfortunately, it seems he has discontinued his writing which saddened me.

Updates(2-4 Chapters) will occur weekly (95% of the time)
