Every women I have ever known has either been raped or molested.
No one talks about it.

The fact that the world isn't raging makes me furious,
Women mean so little that rape victims are given less years than a black man with minute drugs.

We can try to fight it,
Tell ourselves that they're not all the same.
Who knows? Maybe that's true.

But nothing will change the fact that they scare me.
That I'm scared to speak up to them,
That a simple touch makes me uncomfortable,
I'm scared of them all.

If you're one of the lucky ones,
The ones that never felt that fear,
Congratulations.
The ones that pull their skirts down to cover themselves,
You know it's not because of appropriateness or so that you don't distract them.
It's to protect you.

Have you ever felt violated?
Felt disgusted with yourself?
They touch you like you're property that they're entitled to.
Like you're just there to suit their needs.

Their eyes track your every move like hawks hunting their prey,
But what can you do?
You go to the lion to protect yourself from his cubs?

I know it's not fair,
It never is.
I also know that the lion has problems of his own.
I don't disagree.

But don't call us whores,
If you're guilty of worse actions.
Don't call us selfish,
If you've never felt what it's like to be pinned down and have your innocence ripped away from you.
Don't call us ungrateful,
If you've never felt unsafe every second of every day.
Don't call us bitches,
For wanting to make a change.

Don't call us crazy,
Because we can't sleep at night without feeling those hands on our flesh,
Those grunts in our ears and the unbearable pain every time we close our eyes.

You don't even know the half of it.
But in your eyes,
We will forever be inferior.
It was a male that created the earth, was it not?

Until you've felt every experience,
Don't you ever think of saying that we are weak.
We have survived through that and it takes a kind of strength and power that you can not imagine.

But then again,
Women aren't the only ones that have  ever felt this pain, aren't we lions?

Um Stärke zu finden, musste man zuerst Schwäche finden. Und es gibt Stärke in Zahlen.
