first of all, i want to thank everyone for the happy birthday comments you guys left, they really made my week UwU

second of all, i realise that i left off chapter 6 in a cliffhanger and for the past few weeks i've been slowly releasing into the wild side stories and content that may actually seem random, but i assure you that that's not the case

putting aside me being really lazy and brushing off going back and rereading the manhwa, i'm actually writing these side stories with the intent of giving more insight to what i want to do in the future of this book

but i digress

i've noticed some people saying that athan is a bit "oppressive", "manipulative" and "two-faced"

i won't deny it, the way i've made him is for him not to be a good character, that wasn't my intention, i assure you

athan knows that he's not exactly the most compassionate and kind person out there, and he accepts it, embraces it even (more now that he's reincarnated)

one user said that he's a 'yandere'

no, not exactly

athan, for all of his limited knowledge of the manhwa, knows that his existence and actions can't change all that much, but he has one goal in mind and the people that he knows are to appear aren't exactly going to be welcomed by him with open arms

what i'm trying to say is, athan accepts the fact that he isn't a kind person, he doesn't wear his emotions on his sleeves (what with his past life's lack of freedom and the current life's noble environment he's been thrust into) and has a hard time trusting people

no, really

the number of people athan actually trusts with his life can be counted on one hand

claude, felix, kassian, and madam iris

(biyakko doesn't count, he's a mana beast and he's connected to athan's mana and life force)

to make things a bit simpler to understand, the main character inspiration for athan were mafuyu, from given, sesshomaru, from inuyasha, and sinbad, from magi

mafuyu for his lack of experience in expressing his emotions and putting them into words

sesshomaru for his emotionless way of carrying himself and the small inner circle of people that he allows close

sinbad for his carismatic personality, ability to lead and bring people to his side and for his strong belief in what he thinks is right

there were other character traits that made it in from different influences, but these are the main ones that shine through

when i made athan, at first i wanted him to be a tragic character, give him a sad back-story, make him knowledgeable in the manhwa storyline and super lovable

but somewhere along the way i realised that that's not the kind of person i want him to be

so i did the only thing that made sense to me

i made him feel real

to me, for a character to be real, tangible and relatable, i don't want them to have a soap opera as their life, i didn't want him to be one of those omnipotent and omnipresent mc's, i didn't want him to be liked

i wanted you guys to love him as much as you hate him, maybe one more than the other

there is no universally likable person (beyonce and j-lo don't count y'all)

putting aside me defending my oc, the fact that there are people saying that there are things they hate about him makes me feel accomplished as a writer, however unofficial and unexperienced i am

with this, i've finished writing my 'mundane days' side arc

(maybe after this i'll finally finish writing chapter 10)

i love you all and thank you for all the support you have given me
