    "Manang, make us some hot choco please. Wait, are you allergic to cocoa?"

    Kakarating lang namin from the farm. We bathed before heading here. Syempre, baka kasi magkasakit kami.

"Luckily, not."

"Okay. Manang, please!"

   "Sige Matt"

We both took a seat on the sofa and waited for the hot choco. Tapos Mattheo opened the tv.

"Mattheo, super thank you for lighting up my day."

  He smiled. "Alam mo bang halos pang-sampu mo na 'yang kakapasalamat mo sakin simula kanina?"

"Wala eh. I am really thankful na pinasaya mo ako. I even disturbed your check up session with your flowers."

"Okay lang talaga, Mia. Nag-enjoy din naman ako eh."

  "Eto na po, sir."

"Thank you Lory."

"Ihahanda ko na po ba ang dinner ninyo sir?"

  "Yes, please."

I was taking a sip of my hot cocoa nang mag-vibrate ang phone ko. It was from Mjio.

   I glanced up to the upper right part of my phone. Checking the time.

"But it's late to travel already."

"Ano yun, Mia?"

  "Uhm... Someone just texted me na ba-baka my mom is there, in their place. Pupuntuhan ko sana to clarify."

I bit the insides of my cheeks to stop myself from telling the truth nang makita ko kung gaano napuno ng pag-asa ang mata niya after what I said.

"Good! Saan ba yan? We'll go"

  "U-uhm... Can— can I go there...alone?"

He's eyebrows met in one confused look.
"Why?"

"Gusto ko lang i-assure na ang nawawala kong mommy talaga siya. Nakakahiya naman kasi sayo kung hindi dahil we will just waste our time if that is not my mother."

"But what if kung siya?"

"That is why I have to go there alone. Kaya ko naman eh. I've been bothering you since this morning. Alam kong pagod ka so I want you to rest."

"Pero hindi din naman ako makakatulog ng maayos thinking of you."

  I was frozen on my seat. "Think—thinking of me?"

"Yes, you. Kung– kung kumusta ba ang naging lakad mo, kung okay ka lang ba, maybe they are scammers and they bad motives to you. What will happen to you there? And for goodness sake hindi ka pamilyar sa lugar na ito. Paano ka uuwi?"

  I put the mug of cocoa down and held his wrists.
My heart can't stop beating with happiness dahil sa pag-aalala niya saakin. It feels good. Really good.

"This is my chance, Mattheo."

"Can't you take that chance with me?"

"There are instances in life you'll have to face on your own, Mattheo. And this is mine."

  "Get Mang Noli to accompany you."

"No, just help me get a cab. Pagod na si Mang Noli dahil sa maghapon niya tayong inalagaan."
