                                                                               Chapter 1 

 "JESSICA WAKE UP!" my mother yelled the seventh time this morning. "Your late again, if this keeps going on you could really get in trouble."  God, will she just stop talking. "Fine I'm going. Love you!" I say while getting dressed. "Don't forget to text me when you get to school" She says while I'm leaving. Ever since dad passed away, it's like my mom just won't leave me alone. She thinks something bad will happen to me just like it did to my dad, so she's just been very protective over me. Don't get me wrong, I love my mom, I really do, but sometimes she can just get a little overwhelming.

"Get in bitch, we're late again!" Maggi says.  Maggi Coleman, she's been my best friend since 1st grade. No matter what happens, I know I'll always have Maggi by my side. Though, she's more of a party girl who likes to go out and hook up with guys she just met 5 minutes ago, I'm more of a staying inside and watching Netflix type. "We have Mr. Applewood this morning so he won't even notice if we're late since he's mostly half asleep." I say while Maggi drives.

We're in 3rd period,  Ms.Rosie introduces us to this new student. "Today we have a student coming in our class. Welcome Mason!" She says, looking extremely happy which is weird. A guy walks in, he looks around the class until our eyes meet, his dark shiny blue eyes spark until I decide to look away.

 "Well that was some serious eye contact." Maggi says with a smirk. "Oh shut up" I say back blushing a little. He takes a seat down right in front of me, while I just admire his looks. "OMG JESS! Your totally checking him out!" Everyone looks back at me, even Mason's giving me a cute look. I just give Maggi that death glare so she can shut up.   

After class, I go outside trying to stop thinking about the new kid until I see him. There he is, hooking up with a girl. It hasn't even been one day since he came here and he's already popular. What was I thinking. I was completely checking him out before. Omg I regret that so much! He's just another fuckboy.

"Oh come on Jess, you need to come, it'll be fun!" "I said no Maggi, stop trying to convince me." Ever since my dad died, and Zaid and I broke up, I haven't been the same. I don't like parting anymore. My biggest fear is running into Zaid. 

Zaid and I dated for more than a year, not by choice though. He had forced me to stay with him, and if I tried to leave, he would beat me up and threaten me. Until 3 months ago, when I decided I had enough, he did some things to me which was just out of control and I needed to leave. "I promise you, your going to be absolutely fine. Please just come for me this one time?" Maggi says pouting and trying to look innocent. "Fine, just this once." I say already regreting and wanting to change my mind.
