crazy how the
past, present, and future
flashes in our brains
like bulbs

the past flashes like a blinking bulb
as simple as
driving down the road
seeing the stoplight where you fell in love

"love of my life"
"what?"
"nothing."

the present is a bright blinding bulb
as simple as
cold pricks rushing through your body
seeing a text with no passion

"i'm tired tonight. maybe tomorrow"
"yeah."
*read*

the future is a weak flash of a dying bulb
as simple as
laughing with him once again
when you are both too weak
to stay away

"we get high on each other."
"just like we used to."
"yeah, used to."
