As a child Ruelle Knight often visited her aunt Tabitha at her home on Blackwood Hill. The house and area had always given Ruelle goose bumps and she has always felt that she's needed to watch herself when visiting her aunt's home. Something doesn't feel right. From the creepy haunted feel of the large house overlooking a wild, windswept bay to the gnarled creepy forest that surrounds much of the house Ruelle constantly feels as though she's being watched. After being attacked as a child by a "mysterious" creature Ruelle has convinced her mother and father to never let her go back to Blackwood Hill but as she enters her final year of high school Ruelle and her parents make the permanent move to Blackwood Hill when her aunt falls ill. It is exactly the same as Ruelle remembers but when she starts at the local high school her presence isn't exactly welcome by all. The secrets Ruelle discovers not only at Blackwood Hill manor but also the local high school go some way to explaining why so many keep her at arm's length and why she has always felt uneasy being in the place. How will she manage with the information dump and subsequent fall out? Who knows?
