"I wasn't sure I was going to make it, really. I was cold, too cold. I could see black, and then I saw light, and then black again, and I wasn't sure if that was normal when buried under the snow, or if I was going crazy. I was leaning toward the latter.
"It just hurt. It felt like my lungs were collapsing, and I could barely breath, and when I did breath, it felt like I was sucking in ice instead of air. The air was frozen, and hit my throat like shards of glass, chilling my saliva even as my body fought to retain its natural temperature. It was losing the battle.
