In 1932, Elizabeth Douglas, a 17-year old American girl, begins a journal that follows her sexual encounters and what begins to take place once she confesses love to her farmer father after coming to terms with it after a span of 5 years. They slowly fall into an incestuous and manipulative relationship that leads to town ridicule and their home becoming a hotspot for incestuous sex parties in the center of Appalachia. In 1959, Elizabeth read her journals and used them as reference to form a memoir of her lust for her father and the downfall of their relationship.
