Synopsis Jared McKendrick may have been born in lowly circumstances, but all that changed when his father married the most eligible socialite in Boston. Quickly rising in the ranks of the Boston abolitionist movement, Jared is determined to put all of his high society perks--connections, money, even his Harvard law degree-- to use defending the rights of the defenseless. But when the city erupts in riots over the fugitive slave act, and his much-loved younger sister is caught in the crossfire, Jared is faced with a choice he never imagined he'd have to make --one that might mean abandoning everything he's ever wanted to save the people he loves most.
