Second story in the Ever After series. “You always had the prettiest eyes,” I whispered as he studied my face carefully. Josh reached out and took a lock over my hair and curled it around his finger slowly, not saying anything. I figured I wouldn’t get a reply and closed my eyes only to have a quiet voice disturb my peace. “Please don’t leave,” He whispered. I opened my eyes and looked at him. His eyes were closed but it felt like he was staring into my soul. “I can’t make any promises. I have friends back home waiting for me Josh” “This is your home Mads,” He said, eyes opening again. “You can’t leave me again” “Josh what we had was amazing but I can’t give up my life in Florida for something that might not even exist anymore. I’m sorry,” Josh sighed and ran a hand through his messy hair. “I love you Mads,” He whispered, pulling me to his chest. I felt my eyes water, I knew I was breaking his heart by saying I couldn’t stay but I really couldn’t. Vancouver wasn’t my home anymore; I didn’t belong here. Just saying, if you haven't read Desperate Measures you might wanna do that or else most of this will not make sense.
