Dakota Foster's anger and fear keep bringing him back to The Sanctuary - the local werewolf-owned bar and cage-fighting operation that helps pay for his rent. Living in a cramped duplex with his older sister, avoiding thinking about his incarcerated father and dead mother, and struggling to make ends meet, Dakota has only ever known one thing certain throughout his life - that no one else would look after him except for himself. This belief has been solidified throughout his life as he continuously battles his fear of and resentment towards the Valor pack of werewolves that have seemingly taken over his town. Dakota's plan in life is to keep cage fighting at The Sanctuary to compensate for the lack of rent money his dishwashing job accounts for. That is his plan until he meets the Alpha werewolf Samson Valor who claims to be bonded to Dakota. The new presence of Samson Valor may unwittingly alter Dakota's obstinate viewpoint on life and the werewolves. Dakota doesn't want the attention of any werewolf, especially Samson Valor, and he especially doesn't want help from someone he didn't ask for. The young boy finds himself wound between pack disputes, difficult family matters, financial troubles, and more. Most of all, however, Dakota finds himself stuck between choosing to trust a creature he has despised for years or continue living his secluded and unfulfilling life.
