When Lachlan Morrison, a highland dancer from Canada moves to Lochmartin - a small town in the highlands of Scotland - he's met with new problems; he's living in an unfamiliar country, he's preparing for World Championships at Cowal at the end of summer, and then there's her. Mhairi McGregor has lived in Lochmartin all her life, and she's got her priorities. She's going to go to Cowal, win, dance at the Edinburgh Tattoo and start her own dance school (with another job on the side - she just doesn't know what that will be yet.) This master plan means no distractions for Mhairi. No going into town and partying. No wasting time on useless assignments and definetly NO BOYS! Lachlan and Mhairi kick it off fine as friends and the two begin to catch feelings for each other. But things change when Mhairi catches Lachlan laughing over a rumor about her and these friends turn to enemies. Not just through dancing, but through everything else too. Mhairi is adamant that she is completely NOT in love with Lachlan and that she is in no way shape or form jealous of his new relationship. A relationship that Lachlan has no idea he's in. With Cowal approaching, the two decide they need to settle whatever feud they've got going on and either become friends again, or - the better option - become, and stay, civil enemies. Living in a small town comes with one rule: Your business is everyone elses business.
