"CAN'T SAVE EVERYONE" After being bitten by a genetically engineered spider, young Peter Parker finds that he now has incredibly enhanced strength, speed and agility. Along with the ability to adhere to any surface, a precognitive spider-sense that warns him of danger and a pair of mechanized web shooters, the idealistic teenager fights against evil as the costumed hero Spider-Man. Set during the decade of the 1990's, this is a Generation X version of the Amazing Spider-Man story. This is a time when young people believed that they had the power to change the world for the better. In order to make a difference, Peter will need to rely on his friends for help and have the courage to believe in good. LAST ISSUE: Spider-Man's crusade against evil continues as he encounters a familiar foe in the Shocker. The same villain that tried to kidnap Harry Osborn at Midtown High School makes a sudden appearance in New York City. His attempt to rob a bank is foiled by the amazing wall crawler, but Spider-Man is disheartened after innocent people are injured during the fight. It causes the teenage superhero a great deal of stress, knowing that he can't save everyone. Students of Midtown High School are headed to the historic city of Boston for the annual Northeastern Academic Exposition, a three day celebration of academic excellence. Mary Jane Watson uses this opportunity to try and safeguard the Genetic Potential Formula. However, her meeting with Dr. Curt Connors is interrupted by the villainous Otto Octavius. Only a desperate rescue from Spider-Man keeps her from being killed.
