Vinniece Spica; tragic abandonment on the step of Shaffer Orphanage at the age of two, the mother having dumped her into the arms of Shaffer's Headmistress without so much as a goodbye, screeching, muttering and twitching with a crazed look in her eyes and with no information of her father. Vinniece was never normal, ordinary or quite like the rest of Shaffer's children, abnormal things happening around her whenever she got upset, angry or scared much to the bewilderment of the other children, the headmistress and staff, never really catching the girl in the act. The Headmistress doesn't trust her, the staff think her trouble and up to no good, the other children believe her strange and never allow her to join in the games, they all keep their distance but never stray too far from her knowing that she just wasn't the same and know her to be too different from themselves. Nine years in the Orphanage distant and fearfully watched with only the company of her loyal cat and most treasured companion, Aventurine, it comes to a surprise when a rather oddly dressed man seeks her out for a visit, and a letter.
