"VISION QUEST" After being bitten by a genetically engineered spider, young Peter Parker finds that he now has incredibly enhanced strength, speed and agility. Along with the ability to adhere to any surface, a precognitive spider-sense that warns him of danger and a pair of mechanized web shooters, the idealistic teenager fights against evil as the costumed hero Spider-Man. Set during the decade of the 1990's, this is a Generation X version of the Amazing Spider-Man story. This is a time when young people believed that they had the power to change the world for the better. In order to make a difference, Peter will need to rely on his friends for help and have the courage to believe in good. LAST ISSUE Mary Jane Watson continues to struggle in the wake of her best friend's death. An enduring sense of guilt has plagued the bright young woman for the last several months and has manifested itself in the form of a drinking problem. She has a history of alcoholism in her family and now Mary Jane has turned to alcohol in an attempt to deal with her pain. The situation comes to a head during the junior class play when she throws up on stage in front of the entire school. The growing legend of Spider-Man continues as the hero foils a terrorist plot in New York City. However, his actions have consequences as he was forced to leave school in the middle of the day. His punishment is a session of after school detention. After doing his time, the teen boy runs into Harry Osborn. The pair decide to walk home together. During their time together, the teenage boys realize that they have more in common than they thought and the seeds of a genuine friendship are sewn.
