I awoke to a cold and damp concrete floor under my body. I opened my eyes and blinked several times, hoping that I would see a bit more clearly if I did it enough. No luck whatsoever. I was surrounded by the dark and panic started to set in. I tried to move, but quickly realized that I was being held by metal restraints on my wrists and ankles. I tried to pull on my restraints but they wouldn't budge. They must have been fastened on the cold concrete wall behind me. I sank to the ground, pulling my legs against my chest. This had to be a dream. I heard faint noises - footsteps - coming from just the other side of the room I was in. I listened closely to the muffled sounds, they had stopped. The heavy lock clicked and the door swung towards me. My heart pounded in and out of my chest and my eyes hurt from the sudden rush of light. All I could see was a silhouette of a man in the doorway. The man appeared to be tall and his presence alone made me shrink. I could see a faint amount of light shining through short muddy brown hair. I tried to gather as many details as I could, but it was too dark. He knelt down in front of me and brought his face close to mine. Like an alarm, my mind kept shouting at me. To move, to hide, to fight, to not trust this wolf. But I couldn't bring myself to hurt him, or run from him. I was frozen and could barely maintain my breathing. I felt a hand on my cheek and I could feel his ice cold breath on my lips. I shut my eyes as tight as I could, his touch sending cold current throughout my being. I heard him draw in a breath and out came 3 words. "Remember me, Cara?"
