(Previously known as Sympathetic Indifference) At six years old, Hallie comes home to find her dad hanging from a necktie noose, and after that, her life goes downhill. Her mother’s abusive and alcoholic boyfriend moves in and Hallie spends four lonely years under his fists. Just as her life seems irrecoverable, she meets Ben, a caring and lovable brother-like boy who’s three years older than her. He shows her the stars in the sky, a real family, and hope for the future. With him and a few others, she attempts to experience all the things of her childhood she had missed. The rushed journey helps her forget her scars and dark memories, but unfortunately, tragedy follows Hallie like a puppy and she, once again, has to pick up the pieces.
