Receiving Practice

Chapter 8

Yamaguchi and Tsukishima have yet to see each other after the confession. They have both been busy with their practices and games that day and the only time they will be able to see each other is at their nightly practice.

After Tsukishima's long game against Karasuno; barely lost with the score being 20:25, he chugged his water, waiting for Tadashi to arrive at the gym.

The door creaked open and Tsukishima shot his head up. He watched Yamaguchi confidently make his way over to him as he was a lot more comfortable with the gym and Nekoma's members.

"Good evening, Tsukki! Ready to practice?" Yamaguchi asked with a smile that graced his face.

"Course." Tsukishima responded and stood up with Yamaguchi.

The two made their way onto the court and began practicing. The shorter through the ball up into the air, waiting for the perfect time to hit the ball down onto Tsukishima's side.

The ball flew a few feet off from where Tsukishima was standing and he ran to get under it. The ball hit his arms perfectly and the ball was sent to a position where in a real game, the setter could get underneath it.

"I guess practice really does make perfect!" Yamaguchi exclaimed, "two weeks ago I don't think you would have gotten that!"

"Tch, you're going easy on me. Give me a hard one." He smirked and threw the ball back to Yamaguchi.

Yamaguchi gave a determined smile towards Tsukishima and got ready to serve.

The first years practiced as hard as they could for the next two hours, surprising everyone else in the gym with their determination. They sat on the bench that was placed on the side of the court and started to gulp down their water without taking a single breath.

"I'm very impressed with you two! If I'm being honest I didn't think that my great idea would work so well! There's no need to thank me really." Kuroo said as he plopped down onto the bench and started boasting.

Yamaguchi laughed and Tsukishima rolled his eyes.

"We have gotten a lot better!" Yamaguchi pointed out smiling.

Kuroo gave a proud father like smile as if he had made a great achievement before taking a drink of his own water.

"Ah, I better get going! Bye Kuroo-San, bye Tsukki!" Yamaguchi exclaimed before racing out of the gym.

Kuroo almost started choking on his water when he saw Tsukishima camly wave goodbye to the pinch server.

"Wha-! He just called you Tsukki!" He said, jaw hanging to the floor.

"He did."

"You never let me call you Tsukki! Why does he get to?" He pouted.

"Cause we're dating, if you'll excuse me I need to go shower." Tsukishima stated as if it was the most obvious thing in the world.

He stood up and was about to walk away when his captain harshly yanked him back down into his seat.

"What do you mean your dating? You didn't think to tell me? How long have you two been together?" Kuroo quickly asked.

"Calm down, we started dating earlier at lunch. I didn't tell you because I knew you would make a big deal of it." He said rolling his eyes.

Tsukishima stood up and started walking away, hoping to get away from the confrontation only for Kuroo to stand up and start walking with him.

"Of course I'm gonna make a big deal out of it! This is your first time dating someone!"

"Knock it off Kuroo! You're acting like a romantic teenage girl." He quickly left, leaving Kuroo alone.

Tsukishima finished his shower and started to head over to the cafeteria. For some reason, he was oddly nervous to see Tadashi.

"It's probably because we're dating." Tsukishima assured himself. "Wait, that doesn't make things better! I don't want our relationship to be awkward now that we're dating." He thought nervously.

He took a quick deep breath before stepping into the cafeteria. Once he entered, he walked over to the food before sliding into the spot next to Yamaguchi.

"Oh, hey Tsukki! Have you tried this yet, it's really good!" Yamaguchi exclaimed before stuffing a bite of fish into his mouth.

Tsukishima nodded his head and took a bite of his own food.

"It is good."

Yamaguchi smiled and continued to eat.

"It doesn't seem like Tadashi is acting any different than we usually do. I guess I should just act normal." Tsukishima thought and took a bite of his food.

They sat and ate their food with plenty of chatter and laughter in between. Once Yamaguchi finished he went off to go with his team and Tsukishima sat and finished eating his last few bites.

"Tsukkiiiii!" A voice said and violently shook his shoulders from behind.

"Can you not?" He asked sternly and shoved the hands off his shoulders.

The person who was bothering Tsukishima plopped right in the spot next to him.

"Kuroo told me you were dating Yamaguchi-Chan! Is it true?" Bokuto asked, eager for a reply.

Tsukishima sighed and nodded his head. "Yes, we are dating."

The owl haired boy gave a look of shock in utter disbelief.

"I can't believe you started dating someone! I never thought this day would come!" He said and wiped a fake tear.

"Piss off bird brain." Tsukishima reliped and took another bite of food.

He gasped in shock and started to pout.

"I feel sorry for Yamaguchi-Chan, I don't know how he's going to put up with you!" Bokuto said and got up from the bench, leaving Tsukishima alone.

*The next morning*

Yamaguchi was peacefully laying in bed fast asleep when a loud sound suddenly awoke him. His eyes shot open and he sat up out of bed, tring to detect what the noise was. Yamaguchi saw Oikawa clapping two forks together standing next to his sleeping bag.

"Wake up Yama-Chan!" Oikawa exclaimed with a happy smile.

"Huh? Oikawa-San, what are you doing?" He asked.

"Your boyfriend is here!" He said and pulled Yamaguchi up by his arm.

"Wh-, why is he here?"

Oikawa shrugged and handed Yamaguchi his uniform and jacket.

"Now go change."

Yamaguchi grabbed the clothes, slightly confused but went to change anyway. No one else was in the room and they were probably all at breakfast. Once finished, he walked over to the door that divided seijoh's room from the hallway.

"Tsukki! What are you doing here?"

I hate this chapter but It's whatever. Hopefully it's decent enough but next chapter will probably be the last because I barley had any idea's for this chapter and the story is almost complete.
