They told me to be quiet among the hungry crowd, the people rushing around; just trying to live their lives.
"Find a nice man"
"Have some children"
"That skirt is too short"
I'm not afraid of the stones life will hurl, I'm not afraid of the men who will try to silence me.
Through the trials that I face and the hardships I endure, once the dust settles I will build my throne from the rubble, my palace will stand shining in the sun. From my challenges I will rise.
They will shake my hand and look me in the eyes, knowing I'm an equal. They will walk beside me; talking with me, not over. I will have no reason to shout nor fight to be heard.
All their critiques and criticism will build the path for my success, filling the holes and cracks as I walk. Head high, voice powerful, future brighter than the past.
"Strong"
"Kind"
"Assertive"
"Passionate"
That's what they'll say, that's what they'll know.
They'll know my name and say it with pride.
Women will see me and know their worth, women will see me and build their elites long after I'm gone.
They'll walk the road i once did, they'll know they are incredible and amazing.
