Trust: A Macriley Story

Chapter 20

Mac's POV

"We need to put the Phoenix on lockdown now!" Matty says. Within minutes the Phoenix is locked down. We wait in the meeting room until security says we are clear. "Ok we need to find Murdoc. If we find Murdoc and get him to talk we can get an idea of what Riley's dad is planning. Riley, when your dad called was it from a federal number or was it from a cell phone?" Matty asks. "It was a federal number. But Matty what if he plans on breaking out?" She says. "We aren't gonna let that happen. Russ, call the feds and tell them what's happening. I have an idea to catch Murdoc. Riley you and Mac are going to pretend to fake a breakup on a date. You two are gonna go to the parking lot of a restaurant and then Mac is gonna leave. After that Murdoc will most likely show up to 'comfort you'. You are going to have coms on throughout all of this and after he takes you we are gonna have Jack and Bozer track your location." Matty says. "Matty that's dangerous. What if something happens and we can't track her?" I say. "Mac, as you always say. Failure is not an option. Are we clear?" Matty asks. We all nod. This should be fun.

Riley and I head inside of the restaurant for a little bit hoping to see Murdoc. Once Riley spots him she gives the hand signal and I ask her if we can talk outside for a minute. "Riley I think we need to break up. I can't handle this pressure anymore! It's just too much!" I say. "Mac! What?! I thought you loved me?!" She says starting to fake cry. I know it's fake cause her real cry isn't as soft as this one. "Riley I thought I did but apparently I was wrong!" I say walking to the car. I get in and drive out of sight to a grocery store a few blocks down where I'm going to meet up with Bozer and Jack. Suddenly through coms I here Riley talking to Murdoc. "Do you want a ride home?" He asks her. "Why would I trust you?" She asks him. "Because you helped me find my son and I want to help you in return." He says. "Fine." Riley says. They start walking to the car then I hear a gun click like it's reloading. "Get in the trunk." He says. I hear Riley climb carefully into what I'm guessing is the trunk of the car. I hear it close and Riley crying. Except this time it's real tears. Riley has always been a little claustrophobic. Being locked in a trunk is one of her worst fears. I hear an engine start and I get into action. "Jack track Riley's location." I say. "Got he's headed your way Mac!" "Got it." I say. I see a car go past and follow him. He realizes I'm following him and speeds up. "Guys I have an idea. It's kinda insane though." I say. "What is it Mac?" Jack says. "I'm gonna run into him." I say. "From the front I hope. If you run into the back you can kiss the dream of marrying your fiancé goodbye." Bozer says. "I meant the front Boz chill." "Mac, I trust you to not make any massive mistakes. Just don't get killed." Jack says. "Ok for this to work I need you and Boz to stay a moderate distance from us but close enough that you can get there before Murdoc can run. Riley I need you to hold on." "We are in position Mac." Bozer says. "Ready." Riley whispers. "Okay. 3, 2, 1." Next thing I know everything goes black.
