What all happened next felt like a blur. Christina figured out immediately I wasn't able to think straight anymore, so she took the lead in what we had to do.

With the two of us we lifted up Corbyn's unconscious body, which was not as easy as it sounds, because we're two petite girls, trying to carry a guy two times heavier than us. But eventually, we got his thumb to reach the scanner, and with one simple beep, the safe opened.

"You can get the code, Christina, I'll wait here," I whisper with a choked voice.

She nodded briefly and disappeared in the safe.

As soon as she's out of sight, I slowly kneel down besides Corbyn's body, laying on the floor. The moment I see his face, with his closed eyes, but still furrowed brows, I collapse and break down in tears.

"I'm so sorry, Corbyn. I'm so sorry for everything I did and I'm going to do. Please understand I have no other choice. I don't have a choice."

I cry into his chest, resting my head on his body while his suit gets soaked in tears.

"You gave me light, Corbyn. Light and hope for me to be a better person. You did so much for me, and the time we had together, the memories we made together, I will forever cherish and carry in my heart." My body starts shaking because of all the tears leaving my eyes.

"But it wasn't enough. I'm not who you think I am, Corbyn. I'm not a good person, I have so much darkness in me I'm drowning in it. Your light was the best thing that ever happened to me, but it wasn't enough to make the darkness disappear. I'm sorry."

My sobs keep getting louder and louder, and my heart shatters into a million pieces. I let him down.

Suddenly I feel a soft hand on my shoulder. I turn around and see it's Christina, with a look full of compassion in her eyes.

"I have the code. It's time to go, Liz. It's time to let him go," she whispered.

I wipe away a last tear rolling down my cheek. "Let's go."

I look at him for the last time, at the boy who made me the happiest I have ever been, and then walk away. On my way to destroy a lot of people's lives.

Time skip

Now the only thing that was left to do was finding Jonah, and running as fast as we could to the dome, which was quite far from the museum. I don't know how I did it, it felt like my feet were just bringing me to the place I had to go to, because my mind had no idea what it was doing. My mind was numb.

Finally the three of us arrive at the dome, and I can see Zach waiting for us.

"Finally! What took you so long?" he yelled frustrated.

"Sorry, we had a few.. complications," I whisper softly.

"Corbyn figured things out so we had to drug him with the chloroform," Christina explained.

"Oh shit. I didn't think we would've needed the drugs," Zach answered surprised.

"Yeah, me neither," I spoke, still out of breath from running.

"Okay guys, let's keep the small talk for after we break the law," Christina said impatiently.

"Sounds like a plan." I wipe some dripping sweat off my forehead. I don't wanna know fast hard we ran to get here, we for sure broke some kind of record.

"Wait, guys." Jonah stopped us before we could move. "Why is there something that keeps telling me we're making a mistake? I know we have to do this, but still."
