It Started With A Misunderstanding (Ch-8)

Suhani nervously entered her boss's office after being called and waited for what he was about to say..

CHAPTER 8 : SUHANI GETS TO KNOW THE SHOCKING TRUTH!

Her boss said, " So...Suhani, I've come to know about the crisis going on in your family and I've realised you and your family are undergoing a traumatic situation now. Thus, I've decided to give you a few days leave to go and stay with your family as they need you and you need them the most now. I'm sorry for whatever I had said earlier; I wasn't aware of this then. But now I've understood what you're going through and prefer to give you leave for a week or two. So, is it okay?

Suhani heard everything her boss said.. but something....struck her..
She was thoughtful for a while... 'What crisis is Sir talking about..? I'm not aware I guess...' she thought to herself.

She then said,' Sir, I didn't get you... What crisis are you talking about? And why is my family is in a traumatic situation? I haven't known anything about it...'

Her boss was surprised at what she said. 'How's it possible that she isn't aware of such an incident?', he thought.

'Haven't you heard anything about your father's death?', he asked.

Suhani was taken aback!
' W...What!? Sir, I think you're mistaken! My father is all healthy and fine and my family is living a great life!', she said, shocked and quite upset.

'Okay... I guess you haven't been told anything about it at all!.. Your sister, Nisha, had come here yesterday, after you and your colleagues left and I was about to leave. She told me everything that had taken place and why you're living in the nearby hostel and why you're absent minded and upset all the time. She told me that your father had been suffering from extreme tiredness since a long time and suddenly one day, he had a severe pain in the chest which led to him falling unconscious right at that moment. He was rushed to the hospital but alas, he had already passed away on the way. Doctors said he had a cardiac arrest and died within minutes of the suffering! Your family has been miserably suffering, since then.
I think they didn't want you to know any of it as they knew you won't be able to handle the shock...'

Suhani was dumbfounded by then and tears were already running down her cheeks. She sat there, speechless for a long time after listening to everything. Both she and her boss were silent after that.

The silence was broken by her boss calling, ' Suhani..! Are you ok...? Suhani!'

She didn't respond and sat silently.
Later, when she came back to her senses and tried to stand up from the chair, she lost her balance and after all that she listened, she couldn't think about anything and just then, she collapsed on to the floor with a loud thud, followed by her boss's screaming of her name, which led to many employees gather at his door.
