It's the next day and Gracelyn wakes up with a smile on her face looking up at the white ceiling above her single bed in the small room she called her own she got out of bed and got ready for another full day of school woo. She actually likes school it gets her away from the endless chores and schoolwork her fathers job provides her there basically math and physics things there trying to get her to understand her father says there already lining her up for a job with them once she turns 16 she doesn't mind the work but the pressure to get everything correct and the punishment if she doesn't scares her so it is probably her least favorite thing about home besides that she doesn't mind the work and not being able to play because she doesn't know anything else

On her way to school she kicks rocks and hums passing time then she finally gets there and says hi to her to friends Bella and Sam

"Hey Bella hi Sam" Gracelyn smiles and waves at her friends that are over by their cubbies

"Hi Gracie" they both say in unison

Sam continues the previous conversation she was having with Bella "Did you see the new lego friends set it's supposed to have horses and everything" she exclaims

"Oh my gosh I hope I get it for Christmas" Bella jumps a little Grace just nods and then studies her shoes but neither of the other young girls notice. The teacher calls all the students into her oclass and they all go to their assigned seats Gracelyn sits next to a girl named Michelle Jones who is always really quiet today she decides to speak to her because she seems nice enough and Grace needs all the companionship she can get "Hi" she shyly smiles and waves at Michelle

"Your talking to me?" Michelle questions looking around a little

"Yea why wouldn't I" Gracelyn responds laughing a little at how shocked Michelle is

"Oh I've never really talked to people in this class before" she shrugs knowing how antisocial she is

"Is it ok if we change that everyone needs friends and I'm happy to be yours if you'll let me" she holds out her hand for the timid girl to shake

Michelle smiles and nods "sure why not"as soon as the sentence leaves her mouth the teacher begins teaching them about subtraction and the girls just smile at each other both proud they made a new friend

At the end of the day Michelle and Gracelyn walk out of school together discussing the book the teacher read aloud in English that day Michelle walks over to the pick up station but then notices Gracelyn isn't following " Gracie aren't you coming?" She asks looking back at her new friend

Gracelyn just looks at Michelle "I walk home"

"Wait but that's really dangerous" Michelle speaks up now going towards her friend

She shrugs "I'm used to it my dad doesn't get home til late I don't have a ride anyways."

Michelle sighs "ok just be careful wait no I'll ask my mom to drop you off where do you live?"she asks while pushing Grace towards her mother's car not even letting her say no.

"Michelle slow down woah"she exclaims almost tripping over cracks in the sidewalk

"Sorry I'm just not letting you walk queens alone" Michelle shrugs

"Ok let's just go see if your mom will drop me off" she nods and smiles at the fact that her new friend seems to care about her at least a little bit already.

The girls get to Michelle's mothers car and Michelle quickly explains the situation and her mother kindly tells both girls to hop in.

Gracelyn smiles at the kind woman sitting right in front of her even though she can't see it "thank you so much for driving me home"
