The next day, you didn't know how to feel. Part of you was embarrassed that you spilled so much to Levi, and that you had been so weak in front of him. Another part felt as if a crushing weight had been lifted, as well as hopeful that things would start looking up for you. Humanities Strongest Soldier was on your side, after all.
You sat down with your squad at breakfast, avoiding eye contact with Levi as he leaned back and sipped his tea.
"So..." Gunther cleared his throat to counteract the melancholy feeling settled over the squad. "The expedition is in two days. I don't know about the rest of you, but I want to drink tomorrow night. Anyone else wanna join?"
"I'll join if (Y/n) does!" Petra piped up, nudging you.
Your eyes widened, and you struggled to say no to that pleading amber stare she gave you. You chuckled. "Alright, alright." Your eyes flickered to Captain Levi and locked with his unreadable ones. You raised one eyebrow at him with a shy smile.
"I will, too!" Eren immediately followed. Uh...is he even old enough to drink yet..?
Soon enough, Eld and Oluo also agreed to it. They invited several others from other squads, too.
"It's a party, then," Gunther said with a wide smile from the surprising amount of support. "Everyone that's going, we'll hold it here in the mess hall, just after sunset."
As everyone got up to go prepare for training, and the mess hall emptied out except for you and Levi, you moved to the seat next to his, which was at the end of the table. He watched you cautiously.
"I don't suppose you'll be going tomorrow?" You asked as casually as possible. Ever since that kiss, you just didn't know exactly how you should act around him. So you decided to test the waters a bit.
Levi shook his head and set down his tea with a soft clink. "Not much point in drinking for me. And I try to remain professional, parties are not my scene."
"Ah. Well that's too bad, Captain." You put your elbows up on the table and leaned forward some. Your fitted white shirt was unbuttoned just enough for a peak. Levi cleared his throat and looked away, but not before you caught the blush on his cheeks. "Either way, I hope you reconsider. I think it'll be a fun night." You winked at him with a sly smirk, pushing out your chair as you got up and stretched languidly. You then headed for the door and down the hall.
Levi caught up to you in the empty hall and slipped an arm around your waist, spinning you to face him as he pushed you up against the wall. You felt something nudging your thigh. A coy smile spread on your face as you met his hungry eyes.
"Captain," you leaned forward and murmured against his lips. "Is that any way to greet your squad mate, hm?"
Levi growled in response. "How am I supposed to help myself when you tease me like that?"
"So you're ready, then?" You had one hand on his chest, the other on the back of his neck.
Levi's face grew more serious. "I've been ready. The question is, are you?"
You bit your lip and pretended to think for a moment, before meeting his intense gray eyes with ones that danced with mischief. "Maybe if you come to the party tomorrow, you'll find out." You lightly hooked your finger under one of the belt straps going down his chest.
Levi's eyes watched you like a hawk as he considered your words. "I'll be there."
You leaned up to his ear. "Good, I look forward to it." You tugged at the strap a bit before letting it snap back against his chest. You then slid out from between him and the wall and called over your shoulder, "See you at the training grounds, Captain!"
