Here are some poems based on short stories. Enjoy!
Salvation
Quicker yet it comes
Swinging side to side,
I pull,
I shake,
I cannot hide.
Surrounded on all sides,
Black
Dark
Doom.
I will not fall.
I will not die.
I will find a way,
A way out of this mess,
A plan.
I caress the ropes,
Invite the pests.
They nibble,
They bite.
Freedom is coming.
At last I'm free,
But where to go?
Not up,
Not down,
Nowhere to run.
A hand appears,
Aged and strong.
I grab it,
Freedom at last.
Condemnation
I scratch,
My nails split open.
I shove,
My bones creaking
Finally it budges.
Finally some light.
With renewed strength,
It crashes open
Me feet come out first,
Followed by my bloody
Dingy torso,
Then my head
Eyes swollen,
Lips trembling,
I resolve to find him
He who put me here,
The one I trusted,
My other half
Up the stairs
Trudging along,
I can hear him,
His voice quavering
I smile at myself,
My lips crack.
I walk in.
