"Dude what took you so long?" My friend Wes asks once he sees me.
"Excuse me for SLEEPING." I scoff.
"Whatever, just take this." He says and hands me a can of spray paint. "You know what to do."
I smirk. "How immature."
He laughs and begins shaking the red can he held in his hand. "I bet you used to do this all the time in the city." He says while popping off the cap of the can onto the ground.
I shrug. "Didn't have money to buy the stuff."
He hands me ten bucks. "My dad left his wallet on the counter."
"Nice. " I say and shake the can in my hand.
"Decorate Responsibly." he jokes in a warning tone.
I laugh and begin graffiting the brick wall.
--
Flashing red and blue lights come up over the horizon and a siren blares in the distance.
Wes and I look at each other.
"RUN!" he yells.
I drop the cans and trip over a few that were laying empty on the ground.
"Hurry up!" Wes calls back.
The sirens get louder.
I catch my balance and run behind him on the sidewalk. "HEY!" The officer gets out of the car and begins running to us.
"STOP!"
I feel him gaining on me.
Wes, ahead of me, starts looking further and further away.
The police man's hand reaches onto my shoulder and he pulls me onto the ground.
He pins me down.
"Get off me!" I yell. "Wes!"
But Wes was long gone.
The police man put my arms behind my back and clicks silver handcuffs around my wrists.
He pulls me off the sidewalk and into his car.
