Naruto considered himself an adaptable person, he was pretty open to change. All the best things come from change, like the waxy cube that ramen is before boiling it or that he got much, much taller. [like 148 cm didn't even seem like a height anymore kinda' tall] Like the new jutsu he had learned, the rasengan or his mastery over a few tails of the nine-tails. Or Tsunade-baachan becoming Hokage over his old man third. He believed most things changed for the better, but there were some things Naruto believed would never change.
Like the butterflies that fluttered in his stomach when Sakura was near [somedays he thinks that his face turns as pink as her hair], Shikamaru always being lazy [as much as naruto admired shikamaru, there was jealousy that he was able to laze on while still being a genius] , Hinata would always have her stutter [he wasn't going to lie, he liked it a bit] and Sasuke..., Naruto would have his best friend back.[he would lead sasuke towards the correct path, and he won't go back on his word, believe it!]
So when he entered Konoha, he expects it to be the same. Konoha wouldn't change, never. His firends wouldn't change, he didn't think much was going to be different. And all seems that way, but he looks at eyes that once had childlike innocence running through them, to be replaced with an ever-growing emptiness.
'What did I miss' he thinks, 'What did I miss for the place that once seemed like home seem so foreign?'
He didn't ever know the true meaning of change until his life started slipping out the gaps in his fingers.
